Aunque el Subcomandante Marcos dijo que ellos (el EZLN) “no nos sumamos a la campaña ‘por el bien de todos, primero los huesos’” porque “podrán cambiar el capataz, los mayordomos y caporales, pero el finquero sigue siendo el mismo”, el equipo del Presidente Electo anunció tres acciones para visibilizar y reconocer a los pueblos indios:

Primera, el reconocimiento. “Buscaremos el reconocimiento de los pueblos indígenas en un contexto donde existen 68 pueblos originarios en el territorio nacional, a través de una relación entre el Estado y los indígenas”. Para ellos se impulsarán planes de desarrollo integral, lo cuales se harán a través de consultas públicas a fin de reflejar las necesidades de los pueblos originarios.

Segunda, financiamiento económico. Se otorgará a los indígenas un financiamiento económico para activar su desarrollo, así como crear un organismo público que atienda las principales demandas de las comunidades indígenas.

Tercera, atender los acuerdos de San Andrés. Se trabajará una nueva reforma constitucional para que se atiendan esos compromisos que no se cumplieron. Los acuerdos de San Andrés son compromisos y propuestas conjuntas que el gobierno federal pactó con el Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (EZLN) para garantizar una nueva relación entre los pueblos indígenas del país, la sociedad y el Estado.

 

AMLO’S PROPOSAL FOR INDIAN PEOPLES

Although Subcomandante Marcos said that they (the EZLN) “do not join the campaign ‘for the good of all, first the bones'” because “they will be able to change the foreman, the mayordomos and caporales, but the finquero is still the same”, the team of the President Elect announced three actions to make visible and recognize the indian peoples:

First, the recognition. “We will seek the recognition of indigenous peoples in a context where there are 68 indigenous peoples in the national territory, through a relationship between the State and the indigenous.” For them, integral development plans will be promoted, which will be done through public consultations in order to reflect the needs of the indigenous peoples.Second, economic financing. Indigenous people will be granted economic financing to activate their development, as well as create a government branch to attend the main demands of indigenous communities.Third, attend the San Andrés agreements. A new constitutional reform will be worked on so that those commitments that were not fulfilled are met. The San Andrés agreements are joint commitments and proposals that the federal government made with the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) to guarantee a new relationship between the country’s indigenous peoples, society and the State.
